Many on the Ballot, Voted for Three

It's the first time I have ever gone into a voting booth and not marked a circle beside the name of at least one of the candidates in all of the categories. I always would mark the lone candidate just so the Party and the candidate would know what sure support was there before the general election.
Today, I voted only for Rob Gettemy and Rod Roberts and one person I didn't even know that is running for the Secretary of State's office. How sad is that. It's no more sad than it is with how sad the state of affairs has been in our City and State for a long time.
I am more disappointed in the Republican Party than I've ever been. I've watched as most the leaders of my party have become people I would not want my children to follow in the footsteps of.  It has become more about staying in power or getting back in power than being a servant of the people.
As one of the "we the people", I am fed up with it. I want to see some action, honesty and fairness. That's just the beginning of the change I would like to see.
I stood before my United States Senator, Chuck Grassley, and told him of the horrible things that were happening to my neighbors in Cedar Rapids. One of the questions he asked me is "what can I, Chuck Grassley, do?" I told him to use his influence. It irritates me that I even had to answer that question.Â
I have my doubts that the Senator is going to do anything.Â
What will I do? I will work for the opposition. It's time to put someone in the seat that knows what needs to be done. Apparently, being in DC for 30 years causes you to forget why you went there for a family in Cedar Rapids.
