Royal Drive Children’s Parade Followup
I know it has been over a month since the 4th of July and the parade but I finally posted the photos.
It was a pretty good time. A few unforseen things happened.
1) Most of the parents walked with the kids so there weren’t many people on the sidelines to actually watch the parade.
2) A pickup came driving down the street during the middle of the parade. Apparently he didn’t think it was bad to be driving on the road with all these small children.
3) The speed of the parade was too slow for the bicycles.
Solutions
1) Encourage at least 1 parent to go down and sit next to the parade route to watch.
2) Pay to block the street.
3) Let the bikes go first next year and the little kids bring up the rear.
It really didn’t take a lot of time to schedule and was pretty cheap for us to organize (less than $50). I think the kids enjoyed it and i’m pretty sure they liked the ice cream and cupcakes after the parade.
